WelcomeBack Diaspora Project 2024

It was a great pleasure for us to host a young student of molecular biology, Sara Malkić from Sweden, through USAID's WelcomeBack Diaspora project, and through cooperation with the participation of the American Chamber of Commerce in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Hercegovinalijek is a company that strives to create positive working conditions and a business environment in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and we have seen the enormous potential of our young people who are in foreign markets. We would like to thank you for your work and effort during the summer internship.

We hope that we managed to encourage such intelligent and capable young people to return to our homeland, and we hope for future cooperation, while Hercegovinalijek will always participate in such positive initiatives in the future.

The experience of the interns after completing the summer internship speaks best about the project itself, so we hereby transmit the text of the student Sara Malkić, published on her LinkedIn profile.

"It was really a special feeling to return to my homeland this summer with the intention of doing an internship and gaining insight into work processes. I had the privilege of working in the field of quality control, as well as visiting UNICEF in BiH and the Ministry of Civil Affairs of BiH, which are partners of the Hercegovinalijek d.o.o. Mostar company. Also, I was given the opportunity to meet our ambassador at the Embassy of the United States of America in Sarajevo, as part of a project supported by USAID.

I want to express my gratitude to the USAID Diaspora Invest program and the American Chamber of Commerce in BiH for the unique opportunity to be part of the WelcomeBack Diaspora project. I would especially like to praise the Hercegovinalijek company and my mentor, Adna Tabaković, for their exceptional hospitality and warm welcome. I hope we will have the opportunity to cooperate in the future. This was a beautiful experience during which new friendships were built. "
